A pilot in the United Kingdom has drawn attention after using flight-tracking data to spell out "I'm bored" in the sky. The message was observed over England on Saturday morning.
The pilot took off from Liverpool and flew for approximately two hours, with the flight path recorded by Flightradar24, a popular flight-tracking website. A TikTok creator named Aaron Rheins brought the unusual message to wider attention.
According to flight data, the pilot spent about 20 minutes at an altitude of roughly 11,000 feet. During this time, the plane performed a series of maneuvers to create the text "I'm Bored."
The airline that owns the aircraft and employs the pilot has indicated that no disciplinary action will be taken. An operations manager for the airline stated that the flight was a test flight after a new part had been installed in the Piper Tomahawk. "I think the pilot was literally a bit bored, as it was just a test flight," the manager told the BBC. "Mind you, it was pretty skilful flying."
While the pilot may have been bored during the test flight, the manager also noted the concentration required to precisely spell out the message using the plane's flight path. "He was a bit bored, but he probably had to concentrate a lot in the end to spell out the words, so he was probably anything but," the manager added. The aircraft has since been returned to the hangar, and the pilot is reportedly on his day off.
