Plants vs. Zombies: The Board Game Set to Launch on Kickstarter

Mantic Games is bringing the beloved Plants vs. Zombies video game franchise to the tabletop with a new board game, set to launch on Kickstarter on October 14. The game aims to capture the "comedy and chaos" of the original series in a cooperative experience for one to four players.

This adaptation will feature a card-based system where players work together to defend against waves of zombies across increasingly challenging levels. Plant cards, such as Peashooters and Cherry Bombs, will be employed to fend off attackers, alongside tool cards like shovels and lawnmowers that offer strategic advantages. Playing zombie cards will advance them towards the players' home, requiring simultaneous play of all zombie cards to heighten the tension.

New Plants, Zombies, and challenges will be introduced as players progress through levels, with the game lost if any zombies reach the house. Mantic Games, known for its tabletop adaptations of IPs like Halo and The Walking Dead, plans to offer a Deluxe Edition featuring pre-assembled miniatures of popular characters. Additionally, a standalone Night Edition expansion will add further content.

The last entry in the Plants vs. Zombies video game series was Plants vs. Zombies 3, a free-to-play mobile title that has undergone multiple relaunch attempts. The original Plants vs. Zombies was recently remade as Plants vs. Zombies Replanted.
