PlatinumGames Hints at More Bayonetta Adventures

PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba has expressed a strong desire to further develop the Bayonetta character and expand her universe. These comments, made during a discussion about upcoming Stellar Blade costumes that will feature Bayonetta-themed outfits on its Switch 2 port, suggest that new entries in the series may still be on the horizon.

While series creator Hideki Kamiya departed PlatinumGames in 2023, and other key figures like Bayonetta 3 director Yusuke Miyata and Metal Gear Rising director Kenji Saito left in 2025, Inaba's remarks indicate the company's continued interest in the franchise. When asked directly about the possibility of a new game, Inaba responded with "no comment" after stating, "I strongly feel that I want to expand her as a character and broaden her world. Please wait to see exactly what shape that will take."

The collaboration with Shift Up for Stellar Blade, which will include four Bayonetta-inspired costumes for the game's Switch 2 release, serves as a recent point of engagement with the character. This partnership, alongside Bayonetta's inclusion in Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, demonstrates that the IP is not entirely dormant, even with the departures of key development talent.
