Player Modifies GTA 5 to Include Realistic Credit Checks and Personal Finance

Grand Theft Auto 5 has received a new mod that introduces realistic personal finance elements, including hard and soft credit checks and lines of credit, to the game's financial system. The mod, titled 'Realistic Bank System – San Andreas ONE,' allows players to apply for loans and manage their finances in a manner reminiscent of real-world banking.

Players can now obtain credit scores that influence their eligibility for loans. In testing, Franklin Clinton's credit score was noted as 680, classified as 'Good,' which provided positive soft eligibility for a loan. The mod enables players to acquire lines of credit, such as a $30,000 loan, which can then be set as a default payment method for in-game purchases. This means that purchases can be charged to the credit line until it is maxed out, rather than immediately deducting from the player's available cash.

While the mod successfully integrates credit systems, the implementation of physical bank branches is less developed. Players can visit bank locations and interact with the general environment, but direct interaction with tellers for transactions is not possible. The author suggests that this limitation may be due to the chaotic nature of their heavily modded Los Santos environment, which often features extreme events that could impede normal banking operations.
