The latest PlayStation 5 system firmware update, version 26.06-14.00.00, has officially rolled out to all users after a period of beta testing. This update brings the Community Activity widget to the console's Welcome Hub, a feature that had been in testing since May.
The Community Activity feature offers two views: "Trending Now" and "Top 10." Trending Now highlights multiplayer games experiencing a surge in popularity, with explanations for their rise such as increased matches or hours played. The Top 10 view provides a ranked list of the most popular games over the past week, localized by region for accuracy. However, a significant change from the beta version is the removal of player counts for each game within the Top 10 list.
This omission is notable, especially as it was present in the beta and suggested Sony might follow platforms like Steam in displaying game player counts. The final release, however, does not include this functionality, making it less granular than initially indicated.
Two other features from the beta remain unchanged in the final release. Users can now enable PlayStation's image upscaling technology, PSSR, by default on the PS5 Pro. Additionally, the update includes an option in certain regions to turn off Bluetooth at the console level.
