In a unique marketing move to celebrate the recent launch of Marvel's Wolverine, PlayStation commissioned a set of custom Wolverine-inspired claws. Crafted by Fiedlero Knives, the blades are designed to appear as if they are extending directly from the wearer's hands, similar to the practical effects seen in the X-Men films. While not made of adamantium, the custom claws were put to the test, easily slicing through fresh produce.
The real-world claws are not available for purchase, but a sixth-scale replica of Wolverine, complete with swappable smaller claws and detailed silicone arms, is available from Hot Toys.
Marvel's Wolverine, developed by Insomniac Games, has received a lukewarm reception since its release this month. Critics have pointed to issues such as restrictive level design, excessive hand-holding, and repetitive combat. In response to player feedback, Insomniac recently released a patch that reduces the prominence of scent trails and audio cues used for guiding players to collectibles. GameSpot's review described the game as "fun but forgettable" at best, noting that success with one superhero character does not guarantee success with another.
