PlayStation has indefinitely delayed the launch of its FlexStrike wireless fight stick controller, citing unexpected production delays. This means the peripheral will no longer release alongside Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on August 6, as originally planned.
Initially, Sony announced that both the FlexStrike and the Marvel Comics fighting game would share an August 6 release date. However, just weeks before the scheduled launch, the company updated a blog post concerning FlexStrike pre-orders to announce the postponement.
"Due to unexpected production delays, FlexStrike wireless fight stick will launch at a later date. We will share an update soon," a statement from PlayStation reads. "We’re working to ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our players with FlexStrike, so we’re taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product. We apologize for this delay and look forward to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community when it launches."
PlayStation has indicated that customers who pre-ordered the FlexStrike through PlayStation Direct will receive order status updates directly from the online store. The exact length of the delay remains unknown, with possibilities ranging from a few weeks to a significantly longer period.
The delay is a setback for players looking forward to experiencing Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls with Sony's new accessory. The FlexStrike controller boasts features such as enhanced compatibility with other DualSense controllers and PlayStation Link audio, all at a $199.99 price point.
Fortunately, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls itself has not been affected by this delay and is still scheduled to launch on PS5 and Windows PC on August 6. The game will also feature an open beta from July 24 to July 26.
