PlayStation has officially launched a new free streaming application for PlayStation 5 owners in the United States. Titled Live TV on PS5, the service provides access to over 100 ad-supported live channels and a selection of on-demand movies, functioning similarly to other free ad-supported television platforms like Tubi and Pluto.
The app's programming includes a diverse range of content. Viewers can find classic and popular TV shows such as "Community," "The Shield," and "The Walking Dead," alongside a dedicated selection of anime series including "Naruto," "Sailor Moon," and "Death Note." Exclusive channels like "Black Clover" and "Box Sets" from Crunchyroll are also featured.
Movie enthusiasts can explore channels offering free films across genres like action, horror, and science fiction, with titles from providers such as Lionsgate and FilmRise. Sports programming from Fox Sports, NASCAR, and UFC is available, covering various disciplines including MMA, football, and motorsports. News and weather coverage is provided by outlets like NBC News Now and Fox Weather. Additionally, the app offers creator-led content, featuring channels dedicated to gaming, esports, podcasts, and entertainment series like "Hot Ones."
To access Live TV on PS5, users simply need to sign in with their PlayStation Account. Sony has indicated plans to expand availability to Canada and other regions in the future, in addition to promising to add new channels and content over time.
