The PlayStation Network (PSN) is largely back online after an outage that lasted for roughly eight hours on July 24, 2026. While account management, gaming and social features, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Direct have resumed operation, the PlayStation Store is still experiencing issues.

The network began experiencing problems around 12:41 p.m. ET, rendering all online services unavailable to players. This interruption affected numerous online activities, including the highly anticipated open beta for the PlayStation 5 console-exclusive title, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, which was scheduled to commence on the same day. Developers at Arc System Works, the studio behind Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, acknowledged the issue, stating they were investigating the cause.

During the outage, the PSN service page indicated that account management, gaming and social, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Direct were all experiencing problems. The timing of the outage was particularly inconvenient, coinciding with PlayStation's recent announcement to cease production of physical discs for new games in January 2028. This shift away from physical media means that even offline-playable content stored on discs may become less accessible in the future, and some digital games, including single-player titles, require an online check to play, leaving players unable to access them when services like PSN are unavailable.
