PlayStation Network services experienced widespread outages on Saturday morning, preventing numerous players from connecting online. Reports of PSN connectivity issues began to spike, with users across various regions sharing their struggles to access online multiplayer and other services.

The surge in user reports was corroborated by outage tracking websites, which showed a significant increase in reported problems starting in the morning. The timing of the outage is particularly unfortunate for gamers, as it coincided with the launch of the open beta for the highly anticipated fighting game, Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls. Many players were likely eager to test the game during the weekend, only to be met with network errors.

While specific numbers for the PlayStation beta are unavailable, Steam data for the game offers a glimpse into its popularity. The PC version of Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls reached a peak of approximately 22,087 concurrent players on Steam earlier in the day. For comparison, Street Fighter 6, a fully released paid title, saw an all-time peak of 31,839 concurrent players on Steam, while its own open beta reached 32,787 players.

As of this writing, Sony has not issued an official statement regarding the PSN outage on its social media channels. The lack of an immediate update, even from regional accounts that have previously provided information on network disruptions, leaves players with little recourse but to await a resolution to the ongoing connectivity problems.
