PlayStation has announced the free monthly games for its PlayStation Plus subscribers for October, which will become available on October 6. The lineup includes the racing simulation F1 25 for PS5, the PvPvE bounty hunter game Hunt: Showdown 1896 for PS5, and the action title Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 for PS4 and PS5.
These titles will be available to add to a subscriber's library permanently, playable as long as the PlayStation Plus subscription remains active across Essential, Extra, or Premium tiers. Subscribers have until November 2 to claim these games before the next batch of monthly offerings arrives.
The selection has drawn some criticism for its lack of seasonal appropriateness, with only Hunt: Showdown 1896 offering "spooky-adjacent vibes" through its atmospheric swamps and pursuit of zombie-like targets. The inclusion of F1 25 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 has been noted as deviating from the typical October theme of horror or Halloween-related content.
PlayStation Plus subscribers are also reminded to claim the September free games—Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life, and Chained Echoes—before October 5.
