The PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset is now available for preorder, with a release date set for November 19. This launch date notably coincides with the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, the highly anticipated open-world title from Rockstar Games. The new headset is priced at $99 and is available through most major retailers.
Designed for the PlayStation 5, the Pulse Wireless Headset supports both PlayStation Link connectivity and Bluetooth, allowing for simultaneous connections to multiple devices. This feature enables users to seamlessly switch audio between their PS5 and, for example, a smartphone. The headset is offered in two colorways: white and Midnight Black.
Sony highlights the headset's Tempest 3D audio support for an immersive sound experience. It features planar magnetic drivers, which are intended to deliver lifelike audio quality. Integrated microphones with AI-enhanced noise rejection are included for clear in-game chat and phone calls, even in noisy environments. The earcups can be flattened for easier portability.
This new audio peripheral appears to be a successor to the PlayStation Pulse 3D Wireless headset, which previously received a 9/10 review score. A higher-end model, the PlayStation Pulse Edge Wireless Headset, was announced concurrently and is slated for release in early next year. The Pulse Edge will include active noise cancellation but will have a higher price point, with exact details yet to be confirmed.
In related news, a discount is currently available on the PlayStation Pulse Explore Wireless Earbuds, offering a $50 saving at Amazon.
