PlayStation has reportedly withdrawn its support for Hideo Kojima's upcoming game, codenamed Physint, due to escalating budget concerns and missed development deadlines. Citing sources familiar with the project, Bloomberg reported that the commercial performance of Kojima's previous titles, Death Stranding and its anticipated sequel, did not meet PlayStation's revenue expectations. This factor, coupled with Physint reportedly exceeding its budget and missing key milestones, led to Sony's decision to cut ties with the project.

PlayStation's reluctance to invest hundreds of millions of dollars into another title that would not be a PlayStation exclusive also contributed to the publisher's withdrawal. With PlayStation out of the picture, Xbox has reportedly moved to fund and publish the game. The title is still said to be several years away from release, making it a significant long-term investment.
