Sony has announced two PlayStation State of Play presentations scheduled for September 3rd, promising a significant influx of new PS5 game announcements, extended gameplay footage, and other surprises. This marks a double-header event, with a second stream dedicated to titles from Japanese and Asian studios.

PlayStation Studios and Exclusives

Among the most anticipated appearances is an extended look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, which will close out the first State of Play. The gameplay reveal for God of War Laufey, slated for a February 2027 release, is also expected to be featured, offering a deeper exploration of its story and characters. Fans are also hopeful for a reappearance of Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which has had minimal exposure since its initial reveal over 18 months ago. The recent completion of its performance capture shoot could indicate a readiness for a new gameplay demonstration or release window announcement.

Housemarque's recent release, Saros, might receive post-launch content updates similar to Returnal, especially following news of co-founder Ilari Kuittinen's departure. Another PlayStation Studios title, Ghost of Yotei, is set to receive its Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion and a new roguelike mode on October 1st. While the third installment of Guerrilla Games' Horizon trilogy is reportedly years away, and the live-service spin-off Horizon: Hunter's Gathering has faced internal reboots, a potential look at Until Dawn 2 is possible with Halloween approaching.

Other PlayStation Studios titles that could surface include a potential Gran Turismo 8 from Polyphony Digital, coinciding with the series' 30th anniversary in 2027. Updates from Media Molecule, Bend Studio, and the status of Fairgame$ (possibly rebranding to Break In) are also possibilities. The visually striking PS5 exclusive Phantom Blade Zero, developed by S-Game, is also a strong candidate for a showing, particularly given its October 28 release date.

Arc System Works' Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, which has performed well on consoles since its August 6 release, may showcase upcoming DLC characters. Additionally, 4:Loop, a co-op shooter from JJ Abrams' Bad Robot Studios directed by Left4Dead's Mike Booth, could be nearing its release after a beta earlier this year.

Third-Party and Multi-Platform Titles

While not guaranteed, a brief follow-up to Grand Theft Auto VI's recent extensive reveal is not out of the question, potentially including a look at its performance on the PS5 Pro. Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is confirmed to conclude the first State of Play. Kingdom Hearts 4 also remains a possibility for a status update.

Saber Interactive's John Wick game, revealed in February and starring Keanu Reeves, could offer some gameplay. Konami's Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, returning to the series' 2D roots, might also be featured. Control Resonant and Star Wars: Galactic Racer are other games that could make an appearance.

Given the original PlayStation's history with the series, a State of Play would be a logical venue for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. A new look at Resident Evil: Veronica is also possible. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, delayed beyond early 2026, might reveal gameplay for its Uncharted-like action-adventure starring Captain America and Black Panther. Krafton's new action-adventure game, Project Windless, featuring a seven-foot chicken protagonist, is another intriguing title that could be shown.

These two State of Play streams are expected to provide substantial updates on a wide array of upcoming titles for the PlayStation 5.
