The PlayStation Store has initiated its annual summer sale, presenting substantial discounts on thousands of games and downloadable content. The sale includes price reductions on recently released titles as well as deep cuts on games from previous years, with some older titles available at up to 90% off.

For players seeking significant savings, games released approximately three years ago or more are featured prominently. Titles such as the Resident Evil 2 remake (2019) and Resident Evil 4 (2023) are available for under $10. The enduringly popular The Witcher 3, a decade-old title, is also on sale, as are Control Ultimate Edition and both Star Wars Jedi titles. Other notable deep discounts include A Plague Tale: Innocence, Dead Island 2 Ultimate Edition, The Quarry for PS5, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and NBA 2K26 for PS5, with some titles reaching up to 90% off.

The sale also extends to more recent releases. Housemarque's Saros Digital Deluxe is available at a 25% discount, and the survival horror title Resident Evil Requiem is 20% off. Team Ninja's Nioh 3, a recent soulslike, carries a 36% discount.

Titles from 2025 releases, such as Battlefield 6 and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, are also discounted, with Battlefield 6 at 50% off and Assassin's Creed Shadows at 55% off. Additionally, Astro Bot has a 34% price cut, and Toby Fox's episodic RPG Deltarune is 20% off.

This summer sale arrives as Sony faces considerable public criticism regarding its stated intention to cease support for physical game releases on its consoles. This decision has ignited concerns about consumer rights and game ownership, prompting various forms of protest, including discussions around emulation advancements and boycotts. The timing of the PlayStation Store sale, while likely pre-planned, is notably convenient amidst this ongoing controversy and similar actions by Sony's subsidiary Crunchyroll concerning its physical anime releases.
