Poké Ball Vivillon Returns to Pokémon Legends: Z-A Via Community Effort

A unique Poké Ball-patterned Vivillon, previously only available through limited in-person events a decade ago, is making a comeback in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This rare variant is being distributed via the game's Mystery Gift feature, but with a community-driven condition. The Pokémon Company is challenging players to collectively evolve a total of 660,000 Spewpa into Vivillon to unlock the special creature for everyone.

The Poké Ball Vivillon first appeared in 2014's Pokémon X and Y, initially distributed at a special Pokémon Center pop-up shop in Paris. It later saw re-releases in Japan and Germany, and a further distribution for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire players at the Hiroshima Pokémon Center in 2016. Since then, this specific pattern has remained unavailable until now.

Players participating in the challenge receive a Spewpa through Mystery Gift, which has an equal chance to evolve into one of 16 available Vivillon patterns, excluding the Poké Ball variant and three others already common in Legends: Z-A. By evolving this Spewpa and any others found in the Wild Areas, players earn "Vivillon Points." The overall progress towards the 660,000-point goal is being tracked on an official website. Upon reaching the target, all players will receive the coveted Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon. Although there is no in-game indicator of individual contribution, the community's collective effort is key to unlocking this long-unavailable Pokémon.
