To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green video games, The Pokémon Company has partnered with Fender Guitars for a special collaboration. The partnership will result in the "Made in Japan Pokémon Red Version Stratocaster Electric Guitar" and the "Made in Japan Pokémon Green Version Telecaster Electric Guitar."
Both instruments are scheduled for release in 2027, with preorders expected to open soon. According to The Pokémon Company, these guitars are designed to blend Fender's classic aesthetic with early Pokémon pixel art. They will also feature a unique toggle switch intended to produce "8-bit audio" for a retro sound reminiscent of the original Game Boy. A special neck plate will further celebrate the 30th anniversary and the collaboration between the two brands.
In other Pokémon-related news, the animated movie Pokémon: Wild Card was announced during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships and is slated for a 2027 release. The Nintendo Switch 2 title Pokémon Pokopia was noted as a significant success this year. Conversely, the MOBA Pokémon Unite will cease operations on both Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms on March 23, 2027, following its final competition, the Aeos Crown 2027.
