The Pokémon Center's website has begun implementing an invite-only access system for its highly sought-after Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes Elite Trainer Box (ETB). This change, indicated on the product's listing page, suggests a new wave of restocks for the popular collector's item could be imminent.
The Ascended Heroes set, released in February 2026, has become one of the most popular Pokémon TCG expansions, featuring notable Trainer's Pokémon and new Mega Evolution ex cards with distinctive artwork. Notable pulls from the set include the James Turner-illustrated Pikachu ex, which possesses the Resolute Heart ability allowing it to remain in play with 10 HP.
Each Pokémon Center exclusive ETB typically contains 11 Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes booster packs, two full-art promo cards (one featuring N's Zekrom stamped with the Pokémon Center logo), 40 Energy cards, 65 card sleeves, six damage-counter dice, a competition-legal coin-flip die, a plastic coin, a player's guide, and a TCG Live code.
The new Invite-Only program is the Pokémon Center's strategy to combat bots and scalpers. It grants selected newsletter subscribers in the US, Canada, and the UK early access to popular items. To participate, users must subscribe to the Pokémon Center newsletter. Successful applicants receive a unique, single-use invitation link, which must be used with the email address that received the invite. Sharing links or using multiple accounts is prohibited and may risk the invite.
It is important to note that not all subscribers receive an invitation, and receiving one does not guarantee product availability due to limited supplies and a first-come, first-served basis.
Impact of Ascended Heroes on the Market
The Ascended Heroes expansion significantly impacted the secondary market upon its release. As one of the largest English Pokémon TCG expansions, it triggered substantial price increases, partly due to high-value chase cards like the Mega Gengar ex Special Illustration Rare, which commanded prices well over $1,000. Aggressive investor speculation also contributed to soaring prices for sealed cases and individual ETBs. TCGplayer data indicated that sealed Ascended Heroes ETB cases reached as high as $1,762.61, placing individual ETBs at over triple their retail value shortly after launch.
This market volatility extended throughout the Pokémon TCG landscape. The invite-only distribution system is seen as a critical measure to stabilize the market by directing stock to genuine fans and collectors rather than allowing automated systems to purchase entire inventories. This approach is considered a more controlled method compared to broad restocks, which can temporarily lower prices but may see them rebound once reprint waves cease. By implementing these restricted restock waves, the Pokémon Center aims to provide a fairer market for collectors facing inflated aftermarket prices.
