Pokémon Centers Are Coming to London and Beyond

The Pokémon Company is set to open its first permanent retail locations outside of Asia, with a new Pokémon Center planned for London in 2029. This marks a significant expansion for the brand's physical retail presence, which has historically been concentrated in Asian countries.

According to an announcement on The Pokémon Company International's official website, the London store will be the "first of several" permanent locations slated for global rollout, though further details on other territories have not yet been disclosed. Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at The Pokémon Company International, stated that the company is "always exploring new opportunities that help us create unique and memorable experiences for our fans." He anticipates the London store will serve as a destination for both new and long-time fans, fostering a sense of community and offering a new way to experience the magic of Pokémon.

Pokémon Centers in Asia are known to attract considerable tourist and fan attention, often featuring exclusive merchandise and elaborate displays not found elsewhere. The United States previously had a Pokémon Center in New York City, which has since been transformed into Nintendo New York. While no longer a dedicated Pokémon store, it still offers Pokémon merchandise alongside other Nintendo products, and retains some of its original design elements, such as Poké Ball-shaped door handles.
