Pokémon Go's Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event is underway, featuring a new Timed Research quest, updated field research tasks, and the introduction of Bramblin and its evolution, Brambleghast.
The event, which concludes on Monday, October 19th at 8 p.m. local time, challenges players with a marathon-themed Timed Research quest requiring significant walking. The single-step research involves exploring distances of 5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km, with each step rewarding 4,200 XP. Completing the entire quest line yields an encounter with Marathon Visor Pikachu.
Field research tasks for the event are centered around exploration. Tasks include exploring 1km for encounters with Doduo, Electrike, or Cacnea, and exploring 3km for a Rare Candy or 25 Mega Manectric Energy. Players can also earn encounters with Electrike or Bramblin by earning a buddy candy, and a Rare Candy or 25 Mega Manectric Energy for spinning a PokéStop for the first time.
Bonuses during the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek include an increased chance of encountering shiny Electrike. From Friday, October 16th, to Monday, October 19th, trainers will also have an increased chance of finding shiny Hisuian Growlithe. Additionally, Mega Manectric can now achieve Super Max Level and utilize the Discharge+ Charged Attack in Trainer and Raid Battles, offering 50 Power in both scenarios. The event also provides access to Major Milestones through the optional Go Pass.
This event marks the first appearance of Bramblin and Brambleghast in Pokémon Go. Bramblin can be encountered through specific field research tasks and Incense during certain periods of the event. The game's wild spawns will also feature increased appearances of Ponyta, Doduo, Stantler, Skarmory, Electrike, Cacnea, and Blitzle.
Incense encounters vary throughout the event. From Tuesday, October 13th, to Friday, October 16th, Incense may attract Galarian Ponyta, Hoppip, Electrike, Dwebble, and Bramblin. From Friday, October 16th, to Monday, October 19th, Incense may yield Hisuian Growlithe, Nincada, Electrike, Helioptile, and Bramblin. Daily Adventure Incense spawns are unaffected by these changes.
The Go Pass, available for purchase, offers additional rewards. The Free Track includes Incense, Rare Candy, Ultra Balls, and event-themed Pokémon encounters. The Deluxe Track, costing £4.99/$4.99, provides Mega Manectric Energy, Rare Candy XL, and more Pokémon encounters. An upgraded Deluxe Track with pre-completed ranks is also available. Rewards must be claimed by Wednesday, October 21st, at 8 p.m. local time. The Go Pass purchase is non-refundable and cannot be made with PokéCoins.
