Pokemon Go is concluding its yearly Go Fest celebration with a two-day event called the Mega Finale. This event places a significant emphasis on Mega-Evolved Pokemon and will include rotating wild spawns and Raid bosses throughout the weekend. Players can also anticipate bonuses for catching Pokemon and completing challenges, alongside the debut of Mega Evolutions for the Kalos starter trio: Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja.

Mewtwo will be a central figure in the Mega Finale. Both Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y will return as Super Mega Raid bosses. More notably, Armored Mewtwo, last seen several years ago, will be available as a five-star Raid boss for the first time since 2020.

Armored Mewtwo Raids and Counters

Armored Mewtwo will be available in five-star Raids on both days of the Mega Finale. This pure Psychic-type Pokemon boasts high defensive stats, making it a challenging opponent. Trainers battling Armored Mewtwo should prioritize using Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type Pokemon, as these types deal super-effective damage against it.

Recommended Bug-type attackers include Mega Pinsir, Mega Scizor, Escavalier, Volcarona, and Genesect. For Dark-types, consider Mega Houndoom, Mega Tyranitar, Mega Absol, Darkrai, and Hydreigon. Ghost-type options include Giratina, Chandelure, Lunala, Dragapult, and Gholdengo.

Timed Research and Bonuses

Prior to the event, a free, branching Timed Research story allows players to choose one of the Kalos starters: Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie. Completing tasks within this research will grant rewards, including Mega Energy for the chosen starter, enabling the first opportunity to Mega Evolve Chesnaught, Delphox, or Greninja. This research and its associated Go Pass must be leveled up before the Mega Finale concludes on September 6.

Several event-wide bonuses are active throughout the Mega Finale. The limit for Remote Raids has been lifted, allowing unlimited participation. Pokemon caught from Mega Raids may also display a special Mega Evolution-themed background. Players who upgrade to the Go Pass Deluxe will receive additional bonuses, such as extra candy, Candy XL, and XP from Mega Raids, and an increased chance of encountering certain shiny Pokemon.

The Mega Finale event concludes on September 6. Pokemon Go will continue its September events with a Harvest Festival and the introduction of Mega Staraptor.
