Trainers looking to add a powerful Garchomp to their roster will have a prime opportunity during Pokémon Go's Gible Community Day Classic event, scheduled for Saturday, September 12, from 2-5 p.m. local time. This event offers a significant chance to encounter and catch Gible, including its shiny form, with increased spawn rates and bonuses designed to maximize rewards.

The primary draw of the event is the opportunity to obtain a high-CP Gible and gather enough candy to evolve it into Garchomp, which boasts a potent Mega Evolution. This Mega Garchomp is considered one of the top Dragon-type attackers, ranking third behind only Eternatus and Mega Rayquaza when utilizing the fast move Dragon Tail and charged move Breaking Swipe. It also excels as a Ground-type attacker, coming in as the second-best option after Primal Groudon when equipped with Mud Shot and Earth Power.

Players aiming to participate should note that evolving a Gabite into Garchomp between 2-9 p.m. local time will grant it the charged move Earth Power. Those who miss this window can potentially acquire the move during a Community Day weekend event in December or by using an Elite TM.

For those interested in PvP, Garchomp demonstrates effectiveness in the Master League. A recommended moveset of Dragon Tail, Twister, and Earth Power allows it to contend with many Dragon-type opponents. The existence of a yet-to-be-released Mega Garchomp Z, noted as a pure Dragon-type, suggests that securing multiple Garchomp may be beneficial for future gameplay.

During the Gible Community Day Classic, several in-game bonuses will be active. These include triple XP for catching Pokémon, incense lasting for three hours, and lure modules extending to one hour. Players can also expect Gible-themed Field Research that may yield Gible with a Special Background, and a Collection Challenge that rewards Garchomp Mega Energy. Furthermore, taking snapshots during the event can trigger Gible special photobombs.

To further enhance candy acquisition, players can use a Lucky Egg and an Incense. Activating Mega Evolutions for Pokémon such as Dragonite, Ampharos, Steelix, Sceptile, Swampert, Altaria, Salamence, Latias, Latios, Rayquaza, or Garchomp, as well as Primal Reversion for Groudon, will grant bonus Gible Candy per catch.

An ongoing "Lure Module Bonus" will also be active from 2-9 p.m., ensuring high numbers of Gible spawns from placed Lure Modules. Importantly, even after the main event concludes at 5 p.m., Gible encountered via lures will retain the boosted shiny rate from the Community Day, offering an extended window for shiny Gible encounters and those with a Special Background.
