Squawkabilly made its debut in Pokémon Go as part of the June 2026 Flying Taxi event. This Generation 9 Pokémon features four different color variants that players can collect, though two of these forms are exclusive to specific regions, making a complete collection a geographical challenge for some.
Catching Squawkabilly
Players can encounter Squawkabilly in two primary ways: by finding it in the wild or by completing specific Flying Taxi research tasks, such as "Catch 5 / 10 / 15 Flying-type Pokémon." The most direct method appears to be encountering it in the wild, with reports of multiple spawns, even of different colors, appearing shortly after the event's start. While field research can be an alternative, the wild spawns are emphasized as the most efficient way to find this new Pokémon.
It is highly recommended that players aim to catch at least one Squawkabilly before the conclusion of the Flying Taxi event, as its spawn rates after the event are currently unknown. The Pokémon Go ecosystem is also currently featuring other activities, including the Go Battle League, Remote Trading, PokéStop Showcases, Routes, and Max Battles.
Squawkabilly Colors and Regional Availability
Squawkabilly is available in four colors: Blue, Green, Yellow, and White. The specific color variant a player can catch is determined by their geographical location, with these forms being regionally exclusive. The regional distribution is as follows:
- Blue Squawkabilly: Found in the Western Hemisphere.
- Green Squawkabilly: Found in the Eastern Hemisphere.
- Yellow Squawkabilly: Available Worldwide.
- White Squawkabilly: Available Worldwide.
To complete a collection of all four Squawkabilly colors, players have a few options. Trading with individuals who have traveled to the opposite hemisphere and caught the desired color is one method. Another approach is to wait for future in-game events that may feature the missing color variants in different regions, though this could potentially take years. The most direct, albeit potentially costly, method is to travel to the opposite hemisphere yourself to find the specific color you need.
Shiny Squawkabilly
Shiny Squawkabilly is not yet available in Pokémon Go at the time of this report. When it is eventually released, the visual change is described as minor. The primary alteration will be to the Pokémon's pompadour, which will shift from black to light pink. This color change is consistent across all Squawkabilly forms, meaning the body colors will remain the same, and players will not be collecting a variety of uniquely colored shiny forms.
