Pokémon Go is set to host its 'Pokémon Horizons: The Series Celebration' event, focusing on Charmander adorned with Professor Friede's signature goggles. The event will run from September 16 to September 22, 2026.
Throughout the celebration, players can encounter Kecleon more frequently at PokéStops. Additionally, taking up to five snapshots per day may trigger a surprise photobomb encounter with Meowscarada, Skeledirge, Quaquaval, or a Charizard also sporting Friede's goggles. These Pokémon can also be found in three-star raids during the event.
Charmander wearing Friede's goggles can be obtained through several methods: appearing in the wild, being attracted by regular Lure Modules, earned via Field Research tasks such as catching 10 fire-type Pokémon or making an excellent throw, and as rewards for reaching ranks 9 and 30 in the event's Go Pass.
This special Charmander can be evolved into Charmeleon and subsequently into Charizard, both retaining Friede's goggles. The evolution process requires 25 Charmander Candy for Charmeleon and an additional 100 Charmander Candy for Charizard.
Event Bonuses and Go Pass
The event's Go Pass offers rewards for completing tasks like winning raids, hatching eggs, and catching Pokémon, with a maximum of 60 ranks. Daily tasks, such as "Catch 5 Charmander" and "Make 10 great throws," provide an extra 50 points each. The Go Pass includes tiered bonuses active during the event: Rank 1 grants double catch candy (triple for the deluxe version), Rank 10 doubles Lure Module duration, and Rank 20 provides additional Stardust for catching Hatenna and Wattrel. The deluxe version of the pass costs $4.99 and includes Premium Battle Passes and Rare Candy XL.
Field Research and Spawns
Field Research tasks obtained by spinning PokéStops will vary based on the time of day. From 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., tasks include catching fire-types for a chance at Charmander (Friede's goggles), Fidough, or Wattrel; making five great throws for Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly; making an excellent throw for Charmander (Friede's goggles); winning two raids for Pikachu (Cap's hat); or winning a raid for Chansey or Lapras.
During the night hours, from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., Field Research can yield Charmander (Friede's goggles), Eevee, or Hatenna for catching fire-types; Rhyhorn or Nacli for five great throws; Charmander (Friede's goggles) for an excellent throw; Pikachu (Cap's hat) for winning two raids; or Rockruff or Tinkatink for winning a raid.

During the evening and night hours, from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., Eevee, Rockruff, and Hatenna will have increased spawn rates.
