Pokémon Go is celebrating its anniversary with the "Special Anniversary Pikachu Celebration" event, which runs from July 13 to July 20. The event reintroduces a wide array of previously released costumed Pikachu, with different costume variations appearing in the wild and through other gameplay mechanics throughout its duration.

Go Pass Rewards

The event features a Go Pass with 30 standard ranks and an additional 30 bonus ranks. By engaging in activities such as winning raids, hatching eggs, and catching Pokémon, players can progress through the pass and earn various costumed Pikachu encounters. A notable way to accelerate progress is by catching 10 Pikachu daily, which grants an additional 150 points. Among the notable Pikachu encounters available through the pass are those wearing a flying/balloon hat at Rank 6, an amethyst crown at Rank 12, a Meloetta hat at Rank 19, a Gracidea flower at Rank 23, a Shaymin scarf at Rank 27, and both Pop Star and Rock Star Pikachu at Ranks 29 and 30, respectively. The pass also offers bonuses, including increased candy for transferring Pokémon at Rank 10 and increased Stardust for catching Pokémon at Rank 20.

Field Research and Raids

Spinning PokéStops during the event can yield Field Research tasks that offer specific costumed Pikachu encounters. These include tasks for catching 10 Pikachu, which can reward encounters with Pikachu wearing Red's hat, Leaf's hat, Lyra's hat, or May's bow. Catching 15 Pikachu may lead to an encounter with Meloetta hat Pikachu. Winning three raids can also reward players with Pikachu wearing a varsity jacket, or one of the World Championships Pikachu variants from 2022, 2023, or 2024. Additionally, one-star raids will feature costumed Pikachu such as those in formal wear (red, yellow, or blue), a safari hat, an amethyst crown, and the World Championships Pikachu variants, alongside the varsity jacket Pikachu.

Wild Spawns

The wild spawns will rotate throughout the event. From July 13 to July 15, players can encounter Pikachu wearing a birthday hat, witch hat, summer hat/sunglasses, party hat, Halloween hat, trick or treat costume, malachite crown, aquamarine crown, and dapper outfits in red, yellow, or blue. The guide will be updated as more spawns are revealed later in the event.
