Pokemon Go's Halloween 2026 Event Features New Costumed Pokemon and Mega Evolutions

Pokemon Go is ushering in the spooky season with its annual Halloween event, which will unfold in two parts and continue into early November. This year's festivities introduce new costumed Pokemon, special Research tasks, bonus rewards, and a new Mega-Evolved Pokemon.

Halloween Part I

The first phase of the Halloween event begins on October 27 at 10 AM local time and concludes on November 1 at 10 AM local time. During this period, players can encounter several new costumed Pokemon in the wild or as one-star Raid bosses. These include Pikachu wearing a hat and capelet, Zubat wearing a top hat, and Sinistea wearing a bow. Shiny variants of these Pokemon will also be available. Additionally, previously featured costumed Pokemon from prior years will reappear, alongside wild encounters with Duskull and Misdreavus.

A free Timed Research will be available for all players who log in before November 1. Completing this research automatically grants rewards such as Rare Candies and an encounter with the costumed Pikachu. Special Halloween-themed Field Research tasks, obtainable by spinning PokeStops, will also offer chances to encounter featured Pokemon.

Chandelure Super Mega Raid Day

On October 31, from 2 PM to 5 PM local time, a new Mega-Evolved Pokemon, Mega Chandelure, will debut as a Super Mega Raid boss. Players participating in these raids will have increased odds of encountering shiny Chandelure, and any caught will come with Mega Level 1 unlocked. During this mini-event, the limit for Remote Raids will be increased to 20, and trainers can receive up to six free Raid Passes by spinning Gym Photo Discs.

Halloween Part II

Following the first phase, the Halloween event continues with Part II starting on November 1 at 10 AM local time and running until November 5 at 8 PM local time. This part introduces shiny Greavard, marking the first opportunity to encounter this shiny variant in Pokemon Go. Mega Sableye will also receive a power boost, gaining access to an additional Charged Attack, Night Shade+, when Mega Evolved up to Super Max Level.

Wild encounters during Part II will include costumed versions of Gengar and Rowlet, as well as Litwick. One-star Raid bosses will feature Pikachu wearing a hat and capelet and Sinistea wearing a bow. A second free Timed Research will be available during this phase, offering Rare Candies and an encounter with the costumed Sinistea for players who log in before November 5. Field Research tasks will also continue to provide encounters with event-themed Pokemon.

Event Bonuses

Throughout the Halloween event, Pokemon Go will feature a spooky atmosphere, including a remix of the Lavender Town theme for background music and Halloween decorations on Gyms and PokeStops. A special in-game 'trick-or-treating' mechanic will periodically present gift boxes on the map, yielding candy or Pokemon encounters. Bonuses tied to the event's Go Pass will also unlock as players level up, with Rank 10 granting double candy for catching Pokemon and Rank 20 offering bonus Stardust.
