Niantic is spotlighting Mega Evolved Pokémon in Pokémon Go with the "Mega Ascension" event, running from August 31 to September 6. This event serves as a prelude to the "Pokémon Go Fest 2026: Mega Finale" and will increase the remote raid limit to 30 per day. A new feature allows Mega Pokémon capable of reaching Super Max Level to gain an additional charged attack when Mega Evolved.

Mega Raid Schedule

The "Mega Ascension" event will feature a rotating lineup of Mega Pokémon in raids. Some of these Pokémon, which typically appear in Super Mega Raids, will be accessible in regular Mega Raids during this period. While these raids will be less challenging as they will not have shields, they will yield less Mega Energy compared to Super Mega Raids.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, August 31: Mega Victreebell, Mega Dragonite, and Mega Malamar
  • Tuesday, September 1: Mega Falinks
  • Wednesday, September 2: Mega Skarmory
  • Thursday, September 3: Mega Starmie
  • Friday, September 4: Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y
  • August 31 to September 4: Mega Latios and Mega Latias

'Go Pass: Mega Finale' Bonuses

A paid "Go Pass: Mega Finale" offers additional bonuses, integrating with the main event this weekend. The pass is available in a standard and a deluxe version for $14.99. Bonuses include an increased item storage limit, increased chances for shiny Pokémon encounters from four-star Mega Raids, and greater rewards of Candy, Candy XL, and XP from Mega Raids. The deluxe version also offers an increased chance of encountering shiny featured Pokémon in the wild during the "Go Fest 2026: Mega Finale" weekend. Players can earn significant Mega Energy for various Mega Pokémon, with a focus on specific Kalos first partner Pokémon. It is noted that significant progress on the pass can be made during the "Mega Finale" event itself, as the level cap will be removed, allowing for easy completion through catching Pokémon and participating in raids.

Boosted Spawns

Alongside the Mega Raids, the unevolved forms of several Pokémon will experience boosted spawn rates. These include Pikachu, Bellsprout, Staryu, Dratini, Skarmory, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Inkay, and Falinks, providing opportunities to encounter these creatures more frequently throughout the event.
