Pokémon Pokopia is set to host its first Halloween-themed event, titled “Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises.” The event will commence on October 17 and conclude on November 1, adhering to the in-game system clock.
“Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises” will feature new Pokémon, decorative items, and specialized habitats, all requiring players to collect a new in-game currency: candy. Pumpkaboo itself will be central to the event, appearing outside Town Centers to trade spooky new items. Players will need to acquire pumpkin candy to make these trades.
While the full list of new items has not been revealed, promotional images showcase Jack-O’-Lanterns, eerie trees, and a glowing ghost decoration. To obtain the necessary candy, players must have progressed to the Bleak Beach area and acquired Zorua’s Camouflage ability. This ability will allow players to play tricks on their Pokémon, transforming into various items before revealing their true Ditto form. Successful “tricks” will reward players with candy.
New Halloween-themed items can also be used to construct a new habitat for Pumpkaboo’s evolved form, Gourgeist. Both Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist will remain in the game after the event concludes, allowing players to permanently add these Ghost-types to their Pokopia areas.
This event follows recent updates to Pokémon Pokopia, including the massive 2.0 update, the Bubbly Basin DLC, and the Fetching Scales for Feebas event. The game has been noted for its “surprisingly deep world” since its launch.
