New leaks suggest that the upcoming second downloadable content expansion for the Nintendo Switch 2 title, Pokémon Pokopia, may introduce a significant number of new Pokémon and themed events. Dataminers have reportedly found over two dozen Pokémon in the game's files that are not yet available to players.
The unearthed Pokémon include a mix of familiar faces from past generations, such as Caterpie, Metapod, Butterfree, Doduo, Dodrio, Snubbull, Granbull, Delibird, Skitty, Delcatty, Turtwig, Grotle, Torterra, Cresselia, Petilil, Lilligant, Fennekin, Braixen, Delphox, Swirlix, Slurpuff, Milcery, Alcremie, Dipplin, and Hydrapple. While datamined content does not guarantee inclusion in the final release, the sheer volume suggests a substantial addition to the game's roster.
Upcoming Events and New Characters
Beyond new Pokémon, the leaks also point to several upcoming in-game events. A Dipplin and Hydrapple-themed event is reportedly planned prior to the second expansion's launch, aligning with seasonal themes. Additionally, leaks suggest that Christmas and New Year's events will be integrated into the DLC. A particularly intriguing leak indicates the potential introduction of a new Alcremie "character," similar to the base game's Mosslax, which was a Snorlax covered in moss due to prolonged slumber.
Pokémon Pokopia, which focuses on player interaction and habitat building rather than traditional battling and capturing, received its first DLC expansion over the summer. The game is currently scheduled to receive its second DLC expansion by the end of 2026, with a potential third expansion planned for 2027. The Pokémon Company and Nintendo have yet to officially confirm the contents of the upcoming DLC.
Pokémon Pokopia is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
