Pokémon Pokopia is set to expand its world with the launch of "Bubbly Basin," the first phase of its three-part expansion pass, arriving this Wednesday. This new content will allow players to explore the ocean depths, a significant addition to the game's available environments. Alongside the paid expansion, a free update, version 2.0.0, will introduce several quality-of-life improvements.
Bubbly Basin will add Diglett, Golisopod, Stunfisk, and Sharpedo to the game's Pokédex. Players will be able to build habitats for these newly accessible Pokémon and foster friendships with them. While the base game allows players to use a Dive ability to go underwater, registering Pokémon in these underwater environments will be exclusive to the Bubbly Basin expansion.
The expansion also enhances underwater traversal. Players can utilize an upgraded Surf move, powered by smoothies created with a new blender item, to navigate more effectively and break underwater obstacles. To assist players who may experience disorientation or motion sickness in the new underwater areas, the developers are implementing visual aids. These include a frame and a central icon on screen to improve player orientation during underwater gameplay.

A significant free addition arriving on August 5th is a special storage container. This container can be placed in various towns and offers 140 free slots, allowing players to access their items regardless of the container's location. This feature aims to streamline inventory management and reduce the need for frequent fast travel to specific storage points, a welcome change for players with extensive item collections scattered across the map.

The new underwater areas and Pokémon, coupled with improved navigation and inventory management, are expected to be major draws for both existing and returning players.
