Google has introduced a new Pokémon Sleep edition of its Fitbit Air tracker, designed to complement the mobile game that gamifies rest. The special edition wearable features a design inspired by Pokémon Sleep, allowing fans to outwardly display their dedication to the franchise.
The Pokémon Sleep edition is a customized version of the standard Fitbit Air, a compact sleep and health tracker weighing 5.2 grams. It is equipped with an optical heart-rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope, SpO2 sensors, and a skin-temperature sensor, enabling it to monitor various health metrics. The device can store seven days of detailed motion data and up to 30 days of daily totals, with a battery life of up to seven days on a single charge.
While the hardware specifications remain identical to the regular Fitbit Air, the Pokémon Sleep edition's appeal lies in its aesthetic. The thematic makeover provides a subtle yet clear way for users to express their engagement with the Pokémon Sleep game.
For those unfamiliar, Pokémon Sleep transforms nightly rest into a Pokémon collection experience. Players place their phone or a compatible sleep-tracking device nearby during sleep. The game then analyzes sleep patterns to determine a sleep type. Upon waking, players discover various Pokémon gathered around Snorlax, with the types of Pokémon appearing influenced by the quality and style of the user's sleep. These collected Pokémon can then be researched and added to the player's collection.
The Fitbit Pokémon Sleep edition is available for preorder at $129.99. This release adds to the ongoing stream of Pokémon-related content, with anticipation also building for upcoming titles like Pokémon Winds and Waves for the Nintendo Switch 2, which has seen leaks hinting at new Pokémon evolutions and interface elements.
