Pokémon TCG Pocket's "Everyday Wonders" Expansion Arrives June 29

The Pokémon Company has announced the upcoming expansion for its mobile title, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, titled "Everyday Wonders." This new set is scheduled to launch on June 29 at 9 p.m. EDT and will focus on particularly adorable Pokémon with cozy, full-art illustrations.

The "Everyday Wonders" expansion introduces several new cards, including an "adorable Pikachu" and a "huggable Piplup." A Sylveon card without an EX designation features an ability that can heal 30 HP from any of your Pokémon per turn, provided it has a Tool attached, which may offer strategic advantages in competitive play.

Another notable addition is Dedenne ex, whose attack deals 40 damage for each Tool attached to all of your Pokémon, potentially reaching up to 160 damage for a cost of two energy. While potent, its effectiveness depends on the ability to field multiple Pokémon and equip them with Tools.

The trainer card Puppy-Loving Girl allows players to examine the top four cards of their deck and add any Pokémon with the "Puppy Pile" attack to their hand. The associated Puppy Pile attack deals 20 damage for each other card with "Puppy Pile" in hand and in play. While this move might not be top-tier competitively, the set also includes Growlithe, Yamper, Fidough, and Rockruff cards related to this theme.

New Tool cards, such as Small Balloon, which reduces a basic Pokémon's retreat cost by one, are also being introduced. A Snorlax card with an ability that prevents opponents from using Stadium cards is also set to appear. Additionally, Hisuian Zoroark ex offers a potent attack, Spiteful Illusion, which can deal significant damage based on the number of Pokémon in the discard pile, potentially reaching 200 damage when paired with cards like Magnezone.

Mega Diancie ex is another featured card, boasting 170 HP and a Brilliant Storm move that deals 40 damage plus an additional 20 damage for each Psychic energy attached to all of your Pokémon. This card is expected to synergize well with Mega Gardevoir ex and regular Gardevoir, known for their Psychic energy generation.

Since its release on October 30, 2024, Pokémon TCG Pocket has achieved over 100 million downloads and generated more than $500 million in revenue. Despite its financial success, the game has seen gradual quality-of-life updates, though DeNA has consistently released new expansions. A recent May update addressed the game's user interface, improving its performance.

The "Everyday Wonders" expansion will be followed by a Mega Rayquaza-themed set in July, marking the game's 20th expansion. The game will also feature 30 unique Pikachu illustrations, each drawn by a different artist.
