Pokémon TCG Pocket to Release Sets Every Six Weeks Amid Player Fatigue

The digital trading card game Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is set to implement significant changes to its release cadence and gameplay features, according to an announcement from the game's Operations Team. Responding to player feedback regarding overwhelming content and a slow user interface, the game will shift from monthly new set releases to a new schedule of releases every six weeks. This adjustment aims to alleviate player fatigue associated with the rapid pace of new card drops.

The change to the six-week cycle will begin with the upcoming C series of card releases. This altered schedule is intended to give players more time to engage with new content, whether their goal is to collect all available cards or to keep pace with the evolving competitive meta.

Beyond the release schedule, Pokémon TCG Pocket will introduce several new features. Immersive cards, featuring animated scenes, will become obtainable through collection and mission completion. New missions will also allow players to unlock one-star promo cards with unique illustrations. A new 'Special Packs' system will be introduced, utilizing a weekly regenerating stamina system for opening, with the initial 'First Partners' pack featuring starter Pokémon from all nine regions.

Deck-building is also receiving attention, with the upcoming addition of a Community Decks feature that will allow players to browse and copy decks from other users directly within the game. The developers also plan to enhance the utility of rental and starter decks, making them available for unlimited use and in versus matches. A new event type called Limited Battles will introduce restricted card pools and award players with accessories.

To improve social interaction, a feature will be added to make it easier for players to see which cards potential trading partners are missing. These updates come as TCG Pocket has experienced a notable decline in active users, with a 41% drop in monthly active users reported between April and June 2026 compared to the previous year. Previous updates have included a set that guaranteed rare cards and the introduction of dual-type cards. The Operations Team has stated these changes are intended to revitalize the player base, though improvements to the app's overall responsiveness and UI are still highly anticipated by the community.
