The free-to-play MOBA Pokémon Unite is set to shut down on March 23, 2027, over five years after its initial launch in July 2021. A gradual suspension of services began on October 27, 2026, with in-game sales of Aeos gems and Unite Club memberships suspended. Existing Unite Club members will retain their benefits until their current membership period concludes.
Players will have the opportunity to enjoy a final in-game event starting November 12, which will grant access to all previously released Unite licenses and Holoware. A library feature will also be added, allowing players to view certain game records and content even after the shutdown. However, this library feature must be downloaded before the March 23, 2027, cutoff.
Qualifiers for the Pokémon Unite Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament are still scheduled to proceed as planned on December 5. After the official shutdown date, players will be unable to log in or participate in any battles, with only the library feature remaining accessible.
Pokémon Unite was originally released for Nintendo Switch in July 2021, with mobile versions for iOS and Android following later that year. The game aimed to offer a more accessible take on the MOBA genre, characterized by its 10-minute matches and simplified mechanics. Executive video editor Alex Van Aken reviewed the game at launch, awarding it an 8 out of 10 and praising its approachable design and engaging gameplay, noting the potential for a large roster of Pokémon to be included.
