Service for the Pokémon MOBA, Pokémon Unite, will officially end on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. The announcement was made by The Pokémon Company, which stated "We regret to inform you that service for Pokémon Unite will end on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC." A special event is currently running to thank players for their participation, introducing features designed to extend the game's utility even after its closure.

Central to these new additions is an intriguing Library feature, set to launch on November 12. This function will grant players access to the Practice Area, enabling them to view items they have acquired, including Holowear, cosmetics, Pokémon, and achievements. This aims to ensure that players' efforts within the game are not entirely lost.

However, players must access the Library before the March 23, 2027, shutdown date for the necessary data to be stored. The Pokémon website noted that "Library data generally cannot be transferred when changing devices" and that "If the game or library data is deleted or otherwise lost after service ends, it may not be recoverable." Support for the library feature will also cease once the game's services are terminated.

Pokémon Unite was first released in 2021 on Nintendo Switch, followed by a mobile release. The free-to-play MOBA pits two teams of five players against each other in an arena where they battle, earn experience, level up, and capture control points. The game had previously seen its services discontinued in Belgium and the Netherlands due to concerns regarding loot box mechanics.
