November is shaping up to be a significant month for Amazon Prime Video, with a robust schedule of new Prime Video Originals and a substantial influx of movies. Headlining the releases are the highly anticipated third season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," a biopic about NFL legend John Madden, and the debut of the "Blade Runner 2099" series.
Prime Video Originals Spotlight
"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" returns for its third season on November 11, with all eight episodes dropping throughout the month. This season will feature a five-year time jump, shifting the narrative focus to Sauron and Gandalf. For those needing a refresher, IGN's review of Season 2 is available.
On November 18, "Madden" will arrive on Prime Video, following its theatrical release on November 11. This drama biography stars Nicolas Cage as the iconic NFL coach and broadcaster John Madden, alongside a cast including Christian Bale and Kathryn Hahn.
The "Blade Runner" universe expands on November 25 with the premiere of "Blade Runner 2099." Set 50 years after "Blade Runner 2049," the series explores a shifting power dynamic between replicants and humans. Hunter Schafer stars as a human posing as a replicant Blade Runner, with Michelle Yeoh portraying an aging replicant Blade Runner. Showrunner Silka Luisa described the series as an "undercover police story" that is "quintessential Blade Runner."
Additionally, November 4 will see the release of "The Greatest," an eight-episode biographical sports drama chronicling the life of boxer Muhammad Ali, with Jaelen Best in the titular role. Other Prime Video Originals premiering include "Terrell & T.O." on November 5, "The Chosen" (Season 6) beginning November 15, and "Clashing Through the Snow" on November 23. The month will conclude with "The Boy Who Stole Billions?" limited series on November 30.
A Full Slate of Films
Starting November 1, Prime Video will add a large collection of films, including numerous holiday-themed titles. Notable additions on this day include "Jingle All the Way," the Arnold Schwarzenegger-led Christmas comedy, "The Addams Family" (2019) and its sequel, "Good Will Hunting," "Mean Girls," and "WarGames."
Later in the month, "The Book of Clarence" becomes available on November 11, followed by "They Will Kill You" on November 20. The animated film "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim" is scheduled for November 28.
Black Friday and Subscription Information
While Amazon typically offers extensive Black Friday sales on retail goods, direct discounts on Prime Video subscriptions are uncommon. New subscribers can take advantage of a free trial of Amazon Prime Video. The service may offer indirect discounts through sales on Prime Video add-ons, such as Paramount+, closer to Thanksgiving.
This November lineup aims to capitalize on the increased viewership potential during the holiday season, offering a mix of established franchises and new original content.
