The popular Fox crime drama Prison Break is officially returning with a new series titled Prison Break: Black Creek, set to stream on Hulu and Disney Plus. The revival series is currently in production and expected to arrive soon.
While details are scarce, a description provided by Deadline states the show will follow “a soldier-turned-corrections officer takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves.” The narrative will unfold within the fictional confines of Black Creek Penitentiary.
Elgin James, known for his work on Mayans M.C. and The Outlaws, is serving as showrunner for Black Creek. He will also direct, with Vanessa Joy Smith handling cinematography. Dawn Olmstead, an executive producer on the original series, returns to the role, and the production is being managed by Disney-owned 20th Television.
The cast includes Drake Rodger as Tommy, Clayton Cardenas as Michael “Ghost,” JR Bourne as Junior, Georgie Flores as Andrea, and Myles Bullock as Darius “Red.” Noah Emmerich has been cast as Callum Faulls, a local West Virginia power broker.
The original Prison Break aired on Fox from 2005 to 2009, with a subsequent revival season in 2017. The series centered on brothers Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield, focusing on an elaborate escape plan after Lincoln was wrongly sentenced to death. The show ran for 90 episodes, garnering significant popularity despite later seasons deviating from its initial premise.
