A new virtual reality and mixed reality title, Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars, is set to launch this fall. Developed by Maze Theory, the game will offer an original narrative within the Project Hail Mary universe.
Players will assume the role of Ryland Grace, who appears to be a silent protagonist in this iteration. The gameplay will involve collaborating with the character Rocky to diagnose and resolve issues aboard a ship. The scope and length of the game are not yet specified, but it promises additional content for fans of the Project Hail Mary franchise.
Actor James Ortiz will reprise his role as the voice of Rocky. "Playing Rocky again for the game has been really special," Ortiz stated. "Fans will be able to step inside the world of Project Hail Mary, interact with Rocky using the same character model from the film, and experience a completely new part of his journey with Grace. It is as close as you can get to the cinematic experience, but this time you are inside it."
Project Hail Mary achieved significant success following its release, grossing $684 million at the box office and gaining popularity on social media platforms. While a sequel to the film is reportedly being considered by Amazon, its development rests on author Andy Weir, and no concrete plans have been announced.
