Korea-based developer Mayfly has launched a public playtest for Project Revenant, its upcoming PC sidescrolling action game that emphasizes precise targeting. The playtest is available now on Steam, with the developers encouraging players to experience the game's core "Precision Aiming" combat system.
This system requires players to accurately aim their mouse cursor directly at enemies to deal damage, a departure from more forgiving shooter mechanics. "This is not a game where you can spray bullets and hope for the best," Mayfly stated. Success in Project Revenant hinges on carefully analyzing enemy positions and attack patterns to execute accurate strikes. The game features mechanics that allow for instant enemy elimination via headshots, environmental interactions like dropping chandeliers, and the use of explosive barrels to clear groups of foes, framing each encounter as a tactical decision.
The game promises a variety of gameplay twists across its stages, featuring unique bosses, diverse enemies including cyborg ninjas, giant robots, and bounty hunters, and varied environments. The public playtest began on August 26.
