A new driving and delivery simulation game, Prospice: Anomalous Logistics, is set to combine the mundane tasks of logistics with surreal and unsettling cosmic horror elements. Developed by Code Wakers, the game recently launched an open playtest on Steam.

Players step into the role of an employee for an organization dedicated to researching a mysterious island described as being "cursed by the corpses of ever rotting gods" and a location where "the world itself unravels." The primary objective for the player is to support the expedition by undertaking delivery tasks, managing resources like fuel, and navigating treacherous terrain. This includes ensuring that any discovered, and potentially unsettling, cargo reaches its destination intact.

The game's premise draws parallels to organizations like the SCP Foundation and the Federal Bureau of Control, focusing on the research and containment of anomalous phenomena. The in-game setting presents unique challenges, such as an island environment that is not conducive to typical logistical operations and the presence of otherworldly energies that can interfere with navigation tools like the player's PDA. Encounters with unusual objects, such as a hovering, bleeding orb, are part of the gameplay experience.

Prospice: Anomalous Logistics also introduces extreme peril. In one described scenario, a player's vehicle is attacked by a large, monstrous entity that dissolves the player's "dreambody" in "the labyrinth of collective death," an event presented to the player following their demise. This element of unexpected, existential threat is highlighted as a key characteristic of the game's "accursed trucking genre."

While Prospice: Anomalous Logistics does not yet have a confirmed release date, the open playtest is expected to remain available on Steam for approximately one week. The game aims to deliver a distinct experience by blending the methodical nature of trucking simulations with the unpredictability and horror of cosmic anomalies.
