PUBG MOBILE has launched an exclusive new experience within its World of Wonder (WOW) creator platform, titled Brainrot Royale. This collaboration introduces characters from the popular internet meme phenomenon, known for their eccentric designs and pseudo-Italian rhyming names, into the battle royale title. The integration was made possible through a partnership with games studio Do Big Studio, which provided official licensing.
Brainrot Royale tasks players with collecting Brainrot characters scattered across a new map. Successful collections serve to upgrade weapons and unlock rarer Brainrot specimens. However, collected characters become vulnerable targets for rival players, who can raid bases to steal them. This creates a dynamic where players must balance attacking, defending, and deciding when to pursue high-value targets.
Every Brainrot character defeated by a player yields coins that can be reinvested into stronger weaponry, forming a progression loop. The experience also features beach party eggs that hide surprise rewards and large-scale Boss encounters that drop valuable loot upon defeat. These elements aim to provide fast-paced, strategic gameplay moments.
Rick Li, Producer of PUBG MOBILE and Deputy General Manager of Quantum Studio, LightSpeed Studios, Tencent Games, stated that the gameplay mechanics were designed to align with the unpredictable nature of the original Brainrot IP. Vincent Wang, Head of PUBG MOBILE Publishing at Tencent Games, highlighted World of Wonder as a key avenue for evolving PUBG MOBILE beyond traditional battle royale formats, enabling fresh player experiences and empowering creators.
Justin Peress, CFO of Do Big Studios, expressed excitement about translating the shareable nature of Brainrot into a playable PUBG MOBILE experience, anticipating players creating unique moments through shooting, stealing, and defending. The ongoing development of WOW and PUBG MOBILE's commitment to its creator ecosystem suggest further collaborations are planned.
