Seven years after the release of Quentin Tarantino's period action-drama Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, an official sequel is set to debut. David Fincher, director of Seven and Fight Club, is at the helm for the new film, which centers on Brad Pitt's stuntman character, Cliff Booth. Following a teaser trailer released in February, the movie is scheduled to arrive in November.
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, previously known as The Adventures of Cliff Booth, will premiere on Netflix on December 23. However, audiences will have an opportunity to see the film in theaters prior to its streaming release. Fincher and Tarantino enthusiasts can catch an early screening during an exclusive two-week run in IMAX theaters starting November 25.
Brad Pitt will reprise his Academy Award-winning role as Cliff Booth. While the original film was set in 1969, the sequel will transport viewers to a different era of Hollywood in 1977. The film also features performances from Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian. Fincher directed from a script penned by Tarantino, who has not yet revealed his tenth and final directorial project.
Karen Han, in a 2019 review, described Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as "easily the quietest and most meditative of [Tarantino's] works, ending with a startlingly soft and sweet moment that contextualizes everything that came before it as, ultimately, a love letter."
In addition to the film, a novelization of Cliff Booth's further adventures, titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth, is slated for release by HarperCollins on Tuesday, December 8.
