Ubisoft has revealed Rainbow Six Tactics, a new single-player, turn-based tactical game that draws inspiration from the popular Rainbow Six Siege. The announcement was made during Gamescom's Opening Night Live, showcasing a departure from the live-service model of its predecessor.

The game tasks players with leading a squad of 15 operators, including familiar faces like Nøkk, Glaz, Ash, Doc, Montagne, Sledge, and Twitch, through a series of missions worldwide. Each operator retains their unique gadgets and abilities, translated from their Siege counterparts. The campaign centers on Commander Six, also known as Paul Bishop, a figure from the Rainbow Six Vegas games. The narrative is set to bridge the gap between Year 10 and Year 11 of Rainbow Six Siege's lore, developed in collaboration with the Siege lore team.

Gameplay will feature handcrafted maps with diverse objectives, such as defusing bombs, capturing VIPs, or rescuing hostages. A key mechanic highlighted is the breach phase, where players must carefully coordinate their units for synchronized entry, involving breaking down doors and destroying walls. Destructible environments are promised, a staple of the Rainbow Six franchise.

Rainbow Six Tactics is confirmed as a strictly single-player experience, and Ubisoft has stated there will be no additional monetization, in-game store, or live-service elements. This approach marks a distinction from some of Ubisoft's other titles and emphasizes a self-contained tactical adventure.

Development is being handled by Ubisoft Paris, a studio with experience on titles such as Mario + Rabbids, Ghost Recon, and Star Wars Outlaws. The game is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
