Ubisoft's upcoming remake, Rayman Legends Retold, will include a playful homage to Sandfall Interactive's Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 by incorporating its fan-favorite "baguette" outfits. The costumes, which feature red berets, striped shirts, and baguettes strapped to characters' backs, were a notable and humorous addition to the 2025 RPG.
These new outfits in Rayman Legends Retold are described as offering a "playful nod to a fellow game created in Montpellier," the French city where both studios are based. While not explicitly stated as a direct reference, the description strongly suggests Expedition 33 as the inspiration. The development team behind Rayman Legends Retold noted that the costumes "honor a title that holds a special place in the hearts of the development team."
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, released last year, was praised for its mature themes and its more whimsical elements, including the distinctive baguette attire. The original Rayman Legends launched in 2013, and its remake aims to introduce the franchise to a new audience by leveraging its established world and characters. Polygon's preview described Rayman Legends Retold as an "imaginative platformer offering vibrant worlds, engaging platforming sequences, and endearing personality."
Rayman Legends Retold is scheduled for release on December 3 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. The baguette outfits will be available to players at launch.
