A fan-made expansion for Red Dead Redemption 2, titled Nuevo Paraiso--The Forgotten Frontier, is set to release on September 16 for PC players. This ambitious mod aims to connect the prequel more directly to the events of the original Red Dead Redemption by recreating Mexican locations and introducing new gameplay features.

The mod, developed by Roxis724 and their team, will feature restored and recreated areas from the original Red Dead Redemption, alongside new settlements, gang hideouts, treasure hunts, minigames, and bounty-hunter missions. Players will also encounter new random encounters. A new protagonist, Sadie Adler, a character from Red Dead Redemption 2 who expresses a desire to travel to South America, is featured. While playing as Sadie is recommended for narrative continuity, players can also choose to experience the mod as Arthur Morgan or John Marston.

Roxis724, also known for other Red Dead Redemption 2 modifications, has been developing Nuevo Paraiso from an earlier Mexico expansion. Over the past few years, the project has significantly expanded in scope and ambition. Development updates indicate a focus on creating an immersive experience that reflects the "oppression, despair, and social tension" of the era, aiming to provide a deeper understanding of the historical context leading up to the Mexican Revolution of 1911. The mod's description states it offers "a glimpse into the social and political tensions that would soon erupt into the Mexican Revolution of 1911, giving players a deeper understanding of the events that shaped Mexico and its people."

Nuevo Paraiso--The Forgotten Frontier will be available for free download on Nexus Mods. Meanwhile, Rockstar Games continues its work on Grand Theft Auto 6, with an official deep-dive reveal planned for August 27 ahead of its November 19 release date. Recent leaks have provided fans with early looks at the upcoming title.
