Reebok has announced a new sneaker collection inspired by the popular animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. The collection features four distinct designs, each drawing inspiration from individual characters as well as the Four Nations and their associated elements.
These new colorways reimagine existing Reebok sneaker models, including the Instapump Fury and Club C 85. The shoes are slated for release online on October 7. Prior to their general availability, the designs will be showcased at New York Comic Con (NYCC) this weekend.
Compared to some previous collaborations, Reebok's Avatar collection sports a more understated aesthetic. The "Appa" sneakers, for instance, emphasize comfort and style with tan and white tones complemented by subtle nods to the flying bison's fur pattern and cozy fur lining.
The "Aang" design is notably bolder, adopting the color scheme of the Avatar's original outfit and featuring the Reebok Insta Pump Fury 94 silhouette. This particular design includes a full image of Aang in his Avatar State on the inner sole and a distinctive lace tag. A separate "Avatar State" design offers a softer tan base with blue accents, clearly incorporating Aang's airbending arrow motif.
All sneakers within the collection will come in limited-edition, Avatar: The Last Air Bender-themed packaging.
This collaboration coincides with the upcoming premiere of Seven Havens, the third series in the Avatar franchise, which follows the original series and The Legend of Korra. The Reebok collection primarily draws its inspiration from the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series, which is also being adapted into a live-action show by Netflix. The original main cast also recently reunited for a new standalone movie that received positive reception.
