Capcom's 2023 animated film Resident Evil: Death Island is set to be retold in manga form. Titan Manga announced that Resident Evil: Death Island Vol. 1, a collected edition of the "biopunk horror manga," will be released on September 29.

The manga adaptation expands upon the events of the film, which saw franchise mainstays Chris Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers unite to combat a bioterror outbreak on Alcatraz Island. The publisher promises heart-stopping encounters, explosive set pieces, and character-driven drama.

The manga is illustrated by ZINO, also known as Zino Kodakujii or Zi Nuo Ye, who previously contributed to Phantom Blade and Unity of Heaven. It originally ran in serialized form on Kadokawa's Comic Hu platform.

Resident Evil: Death Island Vol. 1 will be a 224-page black-and-white collection priced at $12.99. The film itself, available digitally and on DVD and Blu-ray, follows Jill Valentine dealing with a new T-Virus outbreak in San Francisco, Leon Kennedy investigating a kidnapped DARPA scientist, and Claire Redfield researching a mysterious whale-killing fish. Their separate investigations eventually converge on Alcatraz Island, where a new threat awaits.

Looking ahead, the Resident Evil franchise will see a new live-action film directed by Zach Cregger on September 18. Additionally, Capcom is developing a remake of the Dreamcast-era title Resident Evil: Code Veronica, slated for release on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X in 2027.
