Hideki Kamiya, the original director of Resident Evil 2, has shared a unique vision for the potential retirement of protagonist Leon S. Kennedy. Instead of facing further zombie outbreaks or intense action scenarios, Kamiya imagines a peaceful, life-simulation style game for the veteran survivor.

Kamiya elaborated on this concept on X (formerly Twitter), responding to a fan's query about Kennedy's future. He described a game where a retired Leon would engage in activities such as fishing, foraging for wild vegetables, baking bread, gardening, and even running a lemonade stand at a local festival. The scenario also includes simple domestic tasks like walking the dog and helping a neighbor with repairs. This vision stands in stark contrast to the survival-horror elements that have defined the Resident Evil series.

The concept of a cozy, relaxing game has seen significant success in the industry, offering players a tranquil experience as opposed to the high-tension gameplay typically found in Resident Evil titles. While Kamiya's comments offer a hypothetical glimpse into an alternate future for Leon, there has been no official announcement from Capcom regarding such a project.

Capcom's current focus for the franchise includes ongoing support for Resident Evil 4 Remake, which recently received the "Leon Must Die" game mode. The company has also announced a remake of Resident Evil: Veronica, scheduled for release in 2027 on PC and consoles. For players interested in the cozy life-simulation genre with a touch of the supernatural, the upcoming game Moonlight Peaks is set to launch in July.
