Ahead of its August 27 release, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy has offered an exclusive first listen to "Patera," a poignant track from its authentic Greek-Cypriot score composed by Olivier Deriviere. Deriviere, known for his musical contributions to titles such as Assassin's Creed: Black Flag and Dying Light 2, has crafted a score distinct from previous entries in the Plague Tale series, reflecting Resonance's unique narrative.
The score accompanies Sophia's journey to Minotaur Island as she searches for answers about her past. To ensure authenticity, Deriviere enlisted Greek-Cypriot musicians to record in their native language. Central to this effort is The Amalgamation Choir, a group of 20 female vocalists directed by Vasiliki Anastasiou.
Deriviere described "Patera," which translates to "father," as a deeply introspective piece. He explained that the song explores the game's thematic focus on the role of fathers and Sophia's challenging encounters. The lyrics and music aim to convey a powerful, unseen connection Sophia shares with her father, though Deriviere believes the song's emotional resonance extends beyond the game's narrative to touch upon universal childhood experiences. He praised Vasiliki Anastasiou's solo performance for its touching intimacy and highlighted the choir's essential emotional and musical support.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is set to launch on August 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The title will also be available on Day One with Xbox Game Pass.
