Developer Scumhead, known for Mohrta, is preparing to release Ringwyrm, an action horror shooter that blends fantasy and Soviet-inspired aesthetics. The game aims for a murky, dirty visual style and features a nonlinear, interconnected world architecture.
Ringwyrm's gameplay introduces a distinctive survival horror element: players must remain stationary to aim their weapons, while moving forfeits aiming capabilities. This mechanic, while potentially requiring adjustment in a first-person perspective, echoes similar systems found in older survival horror titles. The narrative places players in the role of Edna Gotts, a war orphan conscripted into a military operation. The story unfolds sixteen years after the defeat of Schovekia in the Iron War, with the remnants of its forces having migrated to the Umbral Isle. There, they discover 'Milk,' a mysterious element that rapidly transforms their society.
While a specific release date has not been set, Ringwyrm is slated for a 2027 launch. Players can currently wishlist the game on Steam.
